About Melinda
Melinda Smith is our co-founder, guide, leader, and all-around business guru.
Melinda’s aim in setting up Vine Law was to create a firm that truly listens to what its client wants and which tailors the way services are delivered so that the experience for the client is as easy as possible. That might involve utilising all the modern tech going, or providing a more traditional service.
Melinda was previously Managing Partner of a large regional firm. During that time, she found a passion for empowering people to feel confident in putting forward new ideas, seeking out opportunities for growth, and developing new ways of working. She also takes a particular interest in mental health and wellbeing at work, flexible working, and ensuring we maintain a healthy work-life balance. A happy team after all means happy clients!
Melinda drives energy from within. She leads our firm and gives us all the support and guidance we need, ensuring our lawyers can focus on getting work done for our clients.
Prior to moving into law firm management, Melinda’s background was in commercial and family law. She continues to advise clients in relation to pre-and post-nuptial agreements, and cohabitation agreements, and is currently developing a legal and business consultancy practice.
Legal background
Melinda started her legal career in 1993 as an assistant to a partner in a local firm of solicitors, later studying to become a Legal Executive, qualifying in 2000 and qualified as a solicitor in 2006.
Life outside the law
Dealing with a rugby obsessed family and teenage angst with her twins leaves little time for other activities but she does have an impressive array of materials and craft supplies (collected, not hoarded...) that she might one day actually use for some amazing projects. Maybe.
