Today is International Women’s Day – March 8th 2021 Our Vine Law team thought it would be nice to give people access to two free policies that aren’t common in the workplace, but which we think are important and touch us personally.
We are sure they will be welcomed by a lot of other women. It is becoming more common to have a menopause policy now with some big organisations having taken the lead. The menopause shouldn’t be something that is never mentioned, discussed or which of taboo or makes people feel embarrassed. We would encourage all employers to have a menopause policy as a way to open up conversations about it and to help women navigate that time of their life. The other issue is one that is close to our hearts and it concerns miscarriage. The loss of a baby within the first 24 weeks of pregnancy falls somewhat through the gaps as far as employment law is concerned. It is not very common to have a specific policy covering miscarriage yet, but we at Vine Law hope to change that. We have started with our own example of a policy that can be used as a starting point for employers who want to put something like this in place to support their staff at a very vulnerable time. We are a progressive, modern law firm, and aim to provide practical, straightforward and result-driven advice, delivered in a way to best suit individual client needs, and we felt it was important for us to allow employers access to these policies.
