ICO Launches Privacy Notice Generator for Small Businesses
Employers are required to provide their staff, customers, and other individuals with a privacy notice that details certain aspects of data collection, processing, and the rights of data subjects.
To support small businesses and organizations in meeting these requirements, the ICO has developed a privacy notice generator tool. This tool is designed to help create customized privacy notices for staff, website visitors, and suppliers. Under Articles 13 and 14 of the UK GDPR, controllers are required to provide data subjects with specific privacy information, ensuring their right to be informed is upheld.
The generator tool is tailored to help sole traders, start-ups, small and medium-sized businesses, and charities in complying with the UK GDPR's fair processing, transparency, and accountability obligations. It aims to reduce the cost and complexity of meeting these requirements while ensuring data subjects receive comprehensive information about how their personal data is collected and processed.
The ICO's ICO25 strategic plan emphasizes promoting openness, transparency, and accountability, while also empowering organizations to handle information responsibly and with confidence.
